Clifton P. Titcomb, Jr., MD
With seventeen years experience in the insurance industry, Dr. Cliff Titcomb is an expert in risk assessment
with a proven track record in the delivery of practical solutions to a variety of different risk appraisal
problems.
Dr. Titcomb has been a medical director for both direct and reinsurance companies and has regularly consulted on
complex underwriting cases. He has been one of the principal content developers for two of the most highly
respected underwriting manuals in the life insurance industry. Considered one of the leading experts on morbidity
and mortality risk in the insurance industry, he is an excellent teacher with numerous speaking and writing credits
to his name. He is board certified in internal medicine and insurance medicine and he is skilled in traditional
life table analysis, Markov modeling, life expectancy calculation and review and interpretation of insured lives
survival data.
A graduate of the Georgetown University School of Medicine, Dr. Titcomb completed an internship and residency in
internal medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Titcomb was Chief Medical Director at ING Re and has
served as the chairman of the Morbidity and Mortality Committee of the American Academy of Insurance Medicine
(AAIM), Chairman of the Morbidity and Mortality Liaison Committee (MMLC) and as the primary instructor for the
AAIM Mortality Methodology Course. Dr. Titcomb has been repeatedly on the faculty of AAIM’s Triennial Insurance
Medicine Board Review Course and was program chairman for the 2004 AAIM Annual Scientific Meeting. He is a
member of the Board of Insurance Medicine and is the recipient of the 2001 President’s Award from the American
Academy of Insurance Medicine.
